American Pile and Foundation was contracted to install 110 drilled shafts of various depths and diameters in karst limestone for the Army War College in Carlisle, PA. The shafts were installed with Liebherr LB 28 and LB 36 drilled rigs using temporary and permanent casing, earth augers, core barrels, and air hammers. Shafts were tremie poured in wet conditions. Also, APF installed 18 mini caissons using a Comacchio 450 drill rig. Mini caissons consisted of 16 by 0.500 threaded casing drilled and grouted into rock.
