American Pile and Foundation was contracted for the construction of the new Sheet Pile Bulkhead. The 8-acre man-made Peninsula located within the Erie Basin, South of Bear Street in Brooklyn, NY. The bulkhead will allow the proposed construction of 2, 5-story buildings centered about Richards Street with a Shopping Plaza. The bulkhead consists of approximately 1,800 liner feet of NZ-26 steel sheeting and 1,324 liner feet of SK2 steel sheeting with wales, tie rods and 2 outfalls. The use of a 230-ton Manitowoc 888, 2 barges with mounted clam shell cranes and a PC88 long reach excavator were essential in the completion of the project.
